Doberman/German Shepherd Mix
Leslie is a four year old German Shepherd/Dobie mix(we think). She is a pretty dog of moderate size(just under 60 pounds), with an affectionate temperament. She is very intelligent—we had her as a puppy and she learned words very fast, so fast that “another Leslie” has become a code phrase with us for canine genius. She knows “sit” and when we walk her around the neighborhood (accompanied by her Dobie buddies Wendell and Roger) Leslie will readily sit at the corner before we cross the street and she will wait until we say “okay” before she crosses the street. Leslie is very high energy and can be somewhat anxious if not given enough exercise and affection, so we hope she goes to a home where she will have plenty of exercise. However, because of her energy level, she may not necessarily be suitable for families with small children. (This is why she is back with us—her adopters are now expecting twins and were worried about Leslie plus babies). Leslie is dog social and she could live with male or female dogs. Recently she played nicely with a female Rottweiler in the neighborhood, and she gets along very well with two of our male Dobermans at the rescue. Cats may not necessarily be recommended. On account of her high energy level, it would be good if she were adopted by an experienced dog owner. But for the right person, Leslie with her remarkable intelligence, her affectionate nature, and her joy in life could be the dog of a lifetime, say our volunteers who know her well. (One of them would keep her himself if he had room for one more). She is in West LA so to find out more and to meet her please contact our volunteer, Robert at regtas43@gmail.com
