Quark is an unusual name for an unusual dog. She is about 9-10 months old (as of June, 2018), and she came to us from an upstate shelter where she had endeared herself to the staff. They didn't expect to be able to find her a good home because she is "special needs." They said Quark displayed a "head tilt," but she appears to have a generalized neurological condition that makes her behave oddly: uncoordinated and sometimes unbalanced. We have seen similar traits in dogs born with vestibular disorders but the staining on Quark’s teeth make us suspect that she may have survived distemper as a puppy leaving her with some neurological deficits. She actually functions close to normal, gets around without any difficulty, loves to play and takes direction really well so we expect she could make an incredible family dog as long as you can accept her “quirks”. Quark is very dog-social but is a good watchdog who will alert to unusual things occuring outside her yard. She's an all-natural (long tail and long ears) girl with a beautiful coat and a slightly smaller stature.
