Meet Emily, our very special sweet girl. She’s a youngster at only about 2 years old and though she’s active a playful, she also naps hard. It turns out Emily is mostly deaf! Though she does seem responsive to some sounds, she is also completely deaf to others so when she’s sleeping it takes a lot to wake her up. She also has a congenital condition called Vestibular’s which is an imbalance in her cerebellum. We see it regularly in Dobies and it can vary in severity. Emily has no balance issues, she can easily run and play but she sometimes has a bit of a head tilt and goes in a circle. She’s perfectly happy and healthy and doesn’t seem to know she’s any different than anyone else but she does have a puppy naivety that is endearing. She’s good with other dogs but can be a little growly around food with other dogs, probably a coping mechanism she picked up in puppyhood due to being bullied (we’ve seen that happen in young puppies with this condition that are bullied by their siblings). Please note: she has never growled at a person around her food. Emily will keep you laughing, would love to join in on adventures or keep you company on lazy days at home. She’s requires no extra medical care, just a little patience while she’s learning the rules in her new home. She’s truly a one of kind girl and we’d love to see her enjoying a loving, happy home!
