George was left at an animal shelter in its "night impound" cage, so it's unknown if he had been a stray or left by an owner. The shelter does very good behavioral testing, actually introducing the dog to several different dogs of both sexes to assess behavior. George was good and invited play with all of the female dogs and one out of two male dogs, and with a small dog he "sought attention." This assessment tells us that George is pretty social unless perhaps feeling threatened or over-dominated by another male. He is a bit "guardy" over food and high-value items though, so he may have had periods of hunger and competition, as he is underweight at 63 pounds. He is about 2 years old as of April, 2025, and recommended for adults and families with older kids.
