Hilda is a unique beauty who came to us a few weeks ago from an animal shelter. She was in heat so we had to wait for her spay surgery and now she’s available for adoption. We don’t think she’s quite purebred but she’s stunning in her own right with a dark blue, soft coat and piercing eyes. She is between 1 and 2 years old and a solid, but not tall, 70 pounds. Her behavior is a bit complicated so she will need a compatible home and family. She is an absolute chicken with people, shying away from anyone new, especially men. She seems to become comfortable with women and softer energies quicker which brings out her very affectionate and silly side but we believe she also live with men that are willing to invest in building trust. Her behavior with other dogs is another matter. She is very dominant with other dogs and reactive on leash. She has been kenneled with a large male Dobie mix but living with another dog in the home will strongly depend on how the two interact with each other and what boundaries are encouraged in the home. We are not recommending her for a home with female dogs, small dogs or cats. She will also require a home with a yard. Please don’t jump down our throats apartment/condo dwellers but if she is required to go for a walk around other dogs simply to go potty multiple times a day and for daily exercise then it will be an uphill battle for her, especially in a dog populated neighborhood. A yard will allow her a place to potty and move around until training is continued and her leash skills can improve. We love Hilda and she’s become a fast favorite of everyone at the rescue so we don’t want to see her fail in a new home.
